In a 2024 spinal health survey by HKSH, 87% of people reported spinal pain in the past year.58% experienced back pain, 54% neck pain, and 28% had pain in more than one spinal region at the same time.

Almost half of the reported pain disrupts their sleep.Over one third said it affects their work. Another third reported anxiety, low mood, or irritability linked to pain and limited mobility.
Pain is physical, but its effects reach far beyond the body.

Hong Kong ranks as one of the cities with one of the longest working hours and that leads to a desk-based lifestyle during most of our waking hours.
Long hours of sitting slowly switch off the hips and tighten the front of the body.When the hips stop moving well, the pelvis tilts.The lower back takes on extra load.The knees absorb extra stress that puts on the EXTRA pressure.
This is why pain often spreads rather than staying in one place.
Why Knee Pain Becomes the Breaking Point
Knee pain is especially common.
Knee osteoarthritis alone affects around 7% of men and 13% of women aged 50 and above, more than 300,000 older adults in Hong Kong.
At the same time, public hospital waiting times for joint replacement can reach up to six years.
So people wait.
And while they wait, something else quietly sets in.
